Apply Fixed-Term License

  • Applicable scenarios: There are nine types of fixed term, which are applicable to different scenarios.

    1.Feature Trial use

    Software trial use is a software promotion method. That is, a customer can use a new feature for a period of time before purchasing the software to show the value brought by the trial software. The default expiration time is six months.

    1. oftware test

    For sites that have been put into commercial use, the license for software testing cannot be applied for. The default expiration time is one year.

    3.Beta Trial

    This process applies only to beta test scenarios after TR5 of versions under development. The contract number needs to be verified. Only loan contracts with the end number of 8X can be applied for. The default expiration time is 180 days.

    4.Exhibitions

    License application for large branding activities initiated by Huawei or independently attended by Huawei, such as exhibitions, on-site meetings, forums, user conferences, and demo trucks. The license application corresponds to 7X hardware loan for exhibitions. The default expiration time is one year.

    5.Software subscription Annual Fee

    For software upgrades and optional features in a specified scope, customers pay software royalties on a yearly basis to obtain the right to use the software. The agreement generally lasts for three to five years. After the agreement expires, the customer needs to renew the agreement to continuously obtain the right to use the software. Default expiration time: 1 year

    6.Postpaid

    To avoid operation risks, carriers require equipment vendors to open licenses that exceed the purchased quantity or even the maximum capability of the equipment. Then, at a fixed period (for example, quarterly or semi-annual), both parties collect statistics on and audit the actually used licenses. Then, the service operation and operation results of the licenses are agreed upon, pay for the license. Postpaid projects refer to business solution projects such as PAYG, PAYU, and RS projects where Huawei delivers licenses to customers and customers pay for them based on the usage statistics. Default expiration time: 1 year

    7.Commissioning to Fixed Term

    After engineering commissioning is complete, the commissioning license is converted into a permanent commercial license. If the authorized license capacity in a commercial order is insufficient, you can apply for a fixed-term license for the insufficient part. Default expiration time: 180 days

    8.Cash by Cash (Non-Typical Scenario)

    The system periodically calculates the amount applied by regions/rep offices. Regions/rep offices whose amount exceeds the limit must report to the BG president if the PO is delayed, the budget is insufficient, customer network KPI comparison, and temporary license clearance (out of the contract scope). Default expiration time: 180 days

    9.Energy Saving service

    To support the PowerStar energy-saving solution to be launched by the service department and implement the PAYS business model, a fixed-term energy-saving license is required. The default expiration time is one year.

  • Business rules:

If a fixed-term license is not activated, it can be pushed to the pool for management as long as the expiration date of the fixed-term license is the same.

  • Procedure:

    Step 1: Enter basic information about the application and click Submit.

    Based on the configuration information upload mode, there are four application modes: DB file upload, commercial license application template import, manual configuration, and CPQ BOQ.

    a) Uploading configuration information: DB file

    b) Uploading configuration information: Importing commercial license template

    c) Uploading configuration information: manual configuration

    Note: If you select this method, you need to maintain the fixed-term part template in the product domain in advance.

    d) Configuration information upload method: CPQ BOQ No.

    Step 2: Enter the approval process, supplement the approval data, and click Submit.

    Note: After the fixed-term application is submitted, the approval process starts. In the approval process, you can choose whether to generate a license. If yes, the entitlement is created and activated. If no, the fixed-term entitlement is generated but the license file is not activated.

    Step 3: After the license is approved, click Download on the My Application page to save the license file to the local PC. You can also click a task ID to view the task execution status.
